#SunsetOverlook is located in a historic farmhouse in Columbia, IL, just minutes from downtown St. Louis. Sunset Overlook was formerly known as the Schneider-Schlemmer Farmstead and was built in the 1850s. It was built beside Fort Piggot, which was constructed in 1783 when the first settlers entered that area.
It is owned and run by Peter & Julie Ingold, along with their children. Prior to Sunset Overlook, Peter & Julie shared over 60 years working for Fortune 500 Companies. Sunset Overlook is a quaint bistro serving small plates, wine, beer, and cocktails. Views from the front patio include bi-planes, trains, automobiles, a glimpse of the Jefferson Barracks bridge, and the most stunning sunsets. The restaurant is proud to be a neighborhood staple, while also serving as a special destination for visitors from afar. Sunset Overlook's menu may be considered extensive compared to the size of the small kitchen. There are no fried foods. Many items are made completely in house. All food is delivered as it is completed (versus the entire table) to ensure freshness. The relaxed, casual interior features original, exposed brick walls and a lit bar where guests can enjoy cocktails, beer, and wine. People come for a drink and stay for an extended time making memories and new friends.
